I wouldn’t trade Pionk, I would rather give up either De’Angelo or Gilmour

I'd hate to give up Pionk either, but it'd be crazy to think WPG would give up Trouba without getting a Left side Dman in return. Pionk is a solid player with plenty of potential, but nowhere near what Trouba is.

Agreed, but if that's what gets the deal done, the Rangers would need to do it. Trouba will be better than all three of them, and the Rangers already have Pionk and DeAngelo in Shattenkirk.

The only issues I have here is that the Rangers' kids are going to take a beating playing 2C in Hayes' absence, but whatever...maybe Spooner or names move to 2C.

Hayes>Trouba

The gap isn't huge, but I disagree. Hayes has rounded into a good 2C and would be a nightmare mismatch 3C on a contender. Trouba (while we are still talking about potential and not statistical data) is a potential top pair, shut down d man with offense. Throw in that he's right handed (harder to find) and a couple years younger, and he's more valuable than Hayes, although by how much is arguable. Really, the only reason why this is arguable is because of the "potential" word, because if Trouba had already hit his projections, there would be absolutely no argument.

Winnipeg guy here - they would absolutely go for this trade. Pionk and Hayes would be very appealing to the Jets (need a 2C and good young D) and Trouba would certainly be willing to re sign with the Rangers. This is one of the better offers for Trouba that i've seen, and its nice for some people to realize that in order to acquire Trouba, teams will have to part ways with valuable pieces.

I said John Gilmour for a reason, he’s a solid LHD

If NYR offered Gilmour or DeAngelo instead would you still accept

I think DeAngelo is a more intriguing prospect than Gilmour.

Gilmour has made some interesting strides, coming out of almost nowhere to become a viable prospect. But I don't think there is any arguing that if both hit their ceilings, DeAngelo is the better player. If DeAngelo hits, he's Kevin Shattenkirk. In fact, I'd argue he has a higher ceiling that Pionk as well.

I still think Hayes & DeAngelo with picks should be sufficient. Pionk is a little more finished and has his foot in the door, DeAngelo has the offensive upside.

True but Pionk’s game is more balanced. His shot is very good and he can move the puck around the ice very well. His defensive game was great in college and in the AHL but he hasn’t been as good with that part in the NHL yet but I think he’ll develop into a great two-way defenseman for the top 4 (maybe like Sami Vatanen or Torey Krug).
DeAngelo, on the other hand has had attitude issues and has been bounced around a few times to different teams. He also hasn’t clicked in either end of the ice. I would definitely prefer Pionk but DeAngelo definitely has more upside especially if he becomes as good as scouts originally thought he’d be.
That being said, I’d also take Gilmour over DeAngelo because he’s a much faster skater and has scored a few goals and had assists in the NHL as well. He hasn’t been very good but showed flashes of becoming a reliable defenseman to score on the power play.
I really just don’t like DeAngelo’s game so I’d take them over him.
Just my opinion though
