they have no other choice. sparks hasn't shown anything at the nhl level and mac had a great year but played 20 games. how much do you think they can get? and they need to move 2 of their goalies cuz all 4 possible nhl goalies are on 1 way deals

No they don't have move any goalies. Because there salaries are below the 1.075m even if they are sent to the Marlies it doesn't affect the the cap. The definition of one way contact is they get paid the same whether they are in NHL or AHL. What' the love with Pickard. He was the the fourth goalie for the Leafs last year. He cleared waivers last year

Mchelhinney put up crazy numbers, but he's old as dirt and played less than 20 games, which is not good enough for an NHL backup. He's also taking up a roster spot that needs to go to Pickard or Sparks.

When it comes to trading Sparks, you have to trade one of them, because both Pickard and Sparks are going to become waiver eligible, and neither will clear waivers to start in the AHL next season. they both are ready for an NHL job, and you go with the guy who is a proven NHL backup already.

its not about money. If they don't make the team they have to go through waivers. might as well trade 2 goalies for anything then lose them for nothing

This is crazy talk. Not clearing waivers? How many players every year are claimed on waivers? Maybe one If claimed on waivers the team claiming HAS to keep them on their NHL team on else they can be returned to their original team. You criticize McBackup but he did have a 2.19 GAA and .935 SP. Now I understand playing Sparks or Pickard in the NHL and Mcilerenhy might be sent to the minors but a 6th round picks is so useless. Might as well keep him around, doesn't affect the cap. Heck having a 3rd goalie with the Marlies is better than 6th round pick. Pickard cleared waivers last year when he waived by the Avs, so it's not any NHL team were thought as Pickard as NHL back up even last October.

How many players get claimed on waiver every year. Maybe one. Big reason is then they have to remain on the NHL roster of their new team, Would hate to Andersen get hurt and then Pickard and no one.

Love leafs fans. They claim sparks is a great prospect and the best goalie in the ahl and include him as a large piece in trades for top pairing RHD.

But then also claim he clears waivers.

Which is it?

He might make the Leafs, he might be claimed. But just math suggests there are so few playetd claimed on waivers because then that team has to keep him on there nhl roster. 99% chance that two Leafs goalies the are waived, will clear and then be Marlies. I'm thinking the Leafs want to see what they got in Sparks and he at least starts as a Leaf in October.

Love your ignorance of hockey knowledge, you watch too much sabre hockey. At the end of training camp last year three players were claimed off waivers, no goalies. To think the Leafs are going to lose two goalies, certainly improbable
