Carolina would be holding two good pending UFAs on LW. Strategy moving forward? Hard push to make playoffs but never really address goaltending and need bounce back from Darling.

If out of playoffs you can move both PAC and Skinner in separate deals if either has not extended.

I do think the Canes need to part with assets and picks in order to land top-6 forwards. I like the idea of going for Pac. But this feels like paying way too much for only 1 guaranteed year of Pac. I also don't think Canes add salary at this point without moving Skinner or Faulk. To me it would be better to try something like Skinner + Bean (Skinner would have to agree though).

MTL would take this and run.

CAR is in a dangerous position here dealing their 1st round pick. They are not a guaranteed playoff team. They'll be on the brink again and Patches/Svechnikov I don't see budding them over. The goaltending is still a mess. Until they have more future certainty in terms of how they will finish seasons, they can't be dealing that 1st.
