No because they would have to surpass new jersey columbus, or carolina to get a wildcard. However, I beleive they have made great upgrades to their team this off-season. They will prob. get close, but in the end I don't think they will make it into the playoffs

Thats what I want to see as well... another solid winger would be great and Botterill seems to be good at getting them (Skinner, Sheary)

Yeah its not happening yet. To make the playoffs you have to finish top 3 in your division or in one of the wildcard spots.

Does this team on paper look as strong as Tampa or Toronto? Not even close
Does this team on paper look as strong as Boston or Florida? I'd say they are way back of Boston and a bit closer to Florida but Florida has a much better top 9 than Buffalo, a way better defence and goaltending that is far more proven than Buffalo.

So it would be very hard for them to get into the divisional playoff picture, meaning they are aiming for a wildcard spot.

Who finished ahead of them in those spots last season?

Columbus and New Jersey.

Sure they could pass New Jersey as I think the two teams are comparable, although again the defence and goaltending for New Jersey is a lot more powerful than Buffalo.

But Montreal will be improved over last season as will Carolina (Who on paper look much stronger than Buffalo) so its not a slam dunk to pass those teams as well.

I think New Jersey will improve a little bit from last season and battle Florida, Carolina and Buffalo for the final spot in the playoffs but I think Florida and Carolina will finish about 10 points ahead of Buffalo who will realize they are not making the playoffs and sell off some vets at the deadline. At least if they are smart they'll do that.
