I don’t see why WSH does the deal, the picks are nice and all, but they are still contending for cups.

So a high first, high 2nd and an average NHL goaltender for the goalie who just won the cup for washington. Capitals arent gonna put all their hard work and effort at risk by gambling with Allen & Samsonov in net. Not at that price anyways.

Maybe they would. Considering that 2019-2020 is the last year on his deal and chances are that they won’t re-sign Holtby given that Samsonov is the future. Allen could easily be unloaded for a 2nd when he is no longer needed.

They will get a way better return elsewhere and not have to eat another salary like Allen. They are cap crunching to trade Holtby not taking more money on. Nice try lol

Says the guy who thinks he can get 24M over 8 years Retained for free. And it’s actually not bad deal because Allen isn’t a bad contract you wouldn’t know you don’t know wha fair trade Value is and That’s what the draft picks are for. I know what I’m talking about. You know about EA Sports.

Nope, you actually do not. If Wash is going to trade Holtby it will be for a massive futures return so they can resign their pending players. This is real life, not your garbage ideas

Yea whats that massive return for a 31yo. Like you said Karlsson is old and won’t get a massive return for him. Your logic is bad.

That was when I was having fun throwing ideas around killing time. But now that I see you are 100% serious I can tell you that you have no clue about this trade. Washington has to fit Kosky,Vrana, you know they will want DSP to stay, Djoos, and if Samsonov is actually as good as you say ( will be "ready") he will want a substantial raise. The idea of trading for Allen is just mind boggling in anyway possibly. You are just being a Blues fan homer not understanding what other teams needs are. Another team (like NYI for example) will blow that offer away and not send money also. No way Wash makes this trade in a million years. Awful

Oh and Holtby will also only be 30 years old for the 19-20 season. Math also does not add up quickly for you I see

If they are going to resign you have to get a guy who wants 8M out quick.

Yes for a trade involving all futures and no salary coming back, just like Chicago did many times after their cup win. Face it, you are stuck with Allen

You clearly do not know the difference between a Rental and a Sign and Trade. Holtby is not going to bring in as much as you say they will. I mean look at what Skinner brought as a Rental Contract. You don’t have anything to argue against me here lol.

Skinner is an injury prone player who has won nothing in his career. I think a goalie who just won the Cup holds a little more value, but we will see I guess

Hmmm.....I didn’t know a goalie wins a cup by himself. And if Washington is trying to get a all of there guys resigned this isn’t the worst deal to make when you have Samsonov who is a really good Goalie coming up.

Correct. Which is why they will trade Holtby to a team (like the islanders, sens, etc) who will not be giving money back in the deal. I can only type this so many times I really hope you catch on soon

Ottawa, Islanders, And Rebuilders aren’t willing to supply there first rounders. Because of how high of Pick they are ??‍♂️. You really don’t have a clue.

Islanders are going to be good this season and better next. They add a goalie and they are a playoff team. Read a book.
Both teams also need to add to their cash flow which clearly doesn't work when your team bottoms out. If Ottawa keeps Karlsson somehow they will want to add a goalie and have the space to pull it off easy. If EM wants to sell he will be settling for cents on the dollar with a rebuilding team struggling to get fans. Playoffs revenue add to the value of what he can ask. Pretty simple. Try and keep up son
