Detroit after 2019 Trade Deadline

Created by: CuyahogaKid
Team: 2018-19 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 8, 2018
Published: Aug. 8, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I actually really like what Detroit has going on, at least with the forwards.

They have some great young centers with Larkin, Rasmussen, and Veleno, and could be strong down the middle for the next few years after they develop. They have Zadina, and a nice yiung scorer in Mantha.

Their defense prospects I'm not as thrilled about, although they have a couple players I do like in Hronek and Cholowski. Id like to accumulate more picks and try to see if I can add more younger defenseman.

In the offseason, I would likely be asking Ken Holland to move upstairs as President of Hockey Operations, AND I would replace him with Bill Guerin as new GM

Jack Hughes or Alexander Newhook are drafted and one of the Wings young centers is traded in the offseason for equal in value young defenseman

1.
DET
  1. Honka, Julius
  2. 2019 2nd round pick (DAL)
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
***conditional 2021 3rd or 4th based on if Nyquist re-signs.
DAL
  1. Nyquist, Gustav
Additional Details:
Dallas possibly looks to boost scoring at the deadline and this is aslso assuming Honka doesnt elevate his game to the next level, then this is a change of scenery prospect for detroit
2.
DET
  1. Karabacek, Vaclav
  2. Nelson, Casey
  3. 2019 3rd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Nelson could be one of the Sabres odd men out with the addition of Dahlin and potential emergence of Guhle. but he is a capable young defenseman with a little upside.
BUF
  1. Glendening, Luke
Additional Details:
If Buffalo does have a good year, I believe Buffalo will look to improve their penalty killing and Glendenning is one of Detroits leading pk forwards from last year. He would be great for a playoff run
3.
DET
  1. Subban, Jordan
  2. 2019 3rd round pick (TOR)
  3. 2019 4th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Yegor Korshkov RW (former 31st overall pick from 2016) but hasnt progressed as expected, still projects as a two-way middle six F

Toronto loads up with depth for a potential playoff run by adding former Babcock player Kronwall and additional scoring depth in Vanek. The Leafs likely may not need Vanek for scoring, BUT....he can help for special teams, is familar with Tavares from the NYI, and Toronto is very close to detroit....it may be one of the few teams Vanek would agree to be dealt to.
4.
DET
  1. Stolarz, Anthony
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Flyers will probably continue to have goaltending issues

***Can be elevated to a 2020 second based on performance of team in playoffs....Stolarz is a nice intriguing peice if healthy
PHI
  1. Howard, Jimmy

it's not that much.....versatile, physical, good penalty killer, great in the faceoff circle (59%), for a potential 70-80 something pick is not a lot

it's a one year deal to begin with. I'm sure if he had an opportunity at a Stanley Cup like in Toronto which is near by he would waive it. The NTC just gives him more say in where he goes if he is traded

NTCs and NMCs are about being able to control the process, not about not moving. Vanek and his agent both said that he wants to have a say on if/where he goes. If a contender came calling, you don't think Green, Vanek, Helm, etc. wouldn't leave for that?

Idk about drafting Newhook, of course if Jack Hughes is available where we are picking then we go with him. Otherwise i think we should be looking at Bowen Byram, or Anttoni Honka, especially if we trade for Julius. Honka is probably the 2nd best defenseman in this upcoming draft after Byram. After those guys then i would say Newhook if hes available.

In NHL 18, after you edit his attributes and he's he's a 94 overall, Glenny will bring in a #1 D-man and two first round draft picks.
