Was expecting Carrick for McDavid the way this site has been this year.

Surprised there hasn't been any Colton Orr for Colton Parayko proposals.

Lol. What do you think about the trade value? Still seems off to me, higher pick?

I feel like Timmins is more valuable than Dermott... So tell me, would you trade Dermott for Connor Brown + Connor Carrick + 4th Round Pick?

It’s about team needs,

Dermott is nhl proven so I put a bit more value on him. We are too strong on the right side wing and thin on defence to make that trade. Connor Brown is a great player in all situations. Can score, can kill penalties (and get you some shorties). It is more about team needs. Brown is better than a 4rw. I think he would slot into your team easily on the right side and carrick could fill your bottom rd spot.

What do you think would need to be added?

In the past couple of years Colton Orr has managed to say out of the penalty box and his plus/minus in zero...not bad for an apparent 4th line. Blues would have to add.

Your deal. Might be fair. But if Timmins is an NHL Dman, the Avs don't do the deal. If Timmins is still a AHLer, the Leafs don't do the deal and keep the beloved Brown (I think you have too much faith in Leivo and Bracco)
Leafs still have two RHD prospects....Rasemum and Durzi is Timmins necessary?
Forgetting the trade, you lineup looks like what the Leafs might have in 2019/20, If Llijegren and Ozhignkov aren't NHLers then, looks like the Leafs might have to make a deal.

the Leafs have Liljegren, Durzi, Ozhiganov, and Rasanen at RD currently developing. I seem to be the only one confident in the RD prospects. They might not be a game changer this year or next, but they have potential. Brown or Kapanen are likely to be traded next year because having one of them on the fourth line would be wasteful when they can be traded to patch other holes.

I see kapanen shifting to the left side and playing on the Mathews line after marleau is gone. Johnsson on the Tavares line and Hyman with Kadri if grundstrom doesn’t take that spot. I see Connor brown as the odd one out right now and Hyman in the near future. Playing on the Matthews line will certainly inflate his value. He may also shifted to the right side to play with Kadri. Our 4th line will not be seeing much ice and I am more than happy to fill it with competent elcs. I’m not sure what holes you are talking about other than a rd rental if liljgren isn’t ready for the 19/20 season. I have lots of faith in our prospects. Im just a big fan of Timmins. In the future I see Zaitsev being moved for a good return as I think he will have a few very good seasons.

Rasanen is at least 2 years away. I figure 2 years in the khl one in the AHL. Durzi I am excited about but let’s see how he fairs in the ahl. I could see him taking a step backwards. He’s smart and mature but was also playing for Owen sound and had a ton of pp points. His playoffs there were very good though. Excited to see what he will bring. Ozhiganov I think will take carrick a spot this year and if not will next year for sure. I see this leaving us

Liljgren
Ozhiganov
Timmins
Durzi
Rasanen

About 3 years down the road. I think this is a good place to be. I would think Ozhiganov would be moved and replaced for the big body of rasanen. Where he would most likely be on the third pair. If we have 3 guys pushing for the top 2 it leaves us the option of moving one for a good return or flipping one to the left if necessary... but it won’t be... Reilly,Dermott, Rosen, Borgman and sandin... looks pretty good there too. I think our drafting will start to move more towards offence to keep our 4th line competitive and possibly move up the depth charts to replace expiring contracts of Kadri and possibly kapanen and johnsson in the future.

This deal is hinged on liljgren being ready and Timmins not being ready. I don’t think it works without those two caveats. I’m trying to think long term and hedge some bets. Look to my post above for thoughts on the future.
