Spurgeon goes home to EDM (EDM/CAR trades)

Description
If RNH were a right shot, I'd be trading for him all the time. He's a solid 2C on a cup contending team, and he'd be sharing that role with Eriksson Ek here (despite being listed as a LW). EDM will definitely be looking to add a defenseman, and they get a top pairing RHD who happens to be from Edmonton in this deal. Stuart Skinner would spend the year in Iowa but I have him listed to show our depth (I'm aware I'm over the 23 man limit)

What about him? I don't see why EDM needs him, he projects to be a bottom pairing in the NHL if he ever makes it. I know he's an Edmonton native, but EDM has Nurse, Klefbom, and now Sekera on their left side.

Edit: meant Russell, not Sekera, I know he just had surgery.

Oops I meant Russell, I know he did that's why I made this trade. Sorry for the typo.

He is, but he's behind Seeler and Olofsson so I didn't feel the need to include him. If there's an injury Soucy will definitely be called up. Kunin is also on the depth chart and will definitely see at least some time in the NHL this year. I could maybe see Lodnia given a few games, but I'm much less sure about him than I am about Kunin and even Soucy. Lodnia is a boom or bust prospect (he has a lot of upside if he can put it together), he just needs a lot of time to develop his game so throwing him out to the dogs in the NHL isn't a great idea unless he's in a hot streak.

Edit: Belpedio might see some games as well. I'd bet Belpedio has a better shot of seeing NHL time than Lodnia this year.

I am blown away by the one star rating that guy gave. These are great hockey trades. No muss, no fuss, and helps both teams. I like it a lot.

Not sure how the trade helps the Oilers. RNH is the best Oiler LW by far.

The point wasn't to help their offense. Sekera is out for likely most of the season and the oilers needed help on defense anyways and they address that here. Their wing depth isn't great but they have McDavid and Draisaitl as a one two punch which is among the best in the league. If needed, in this scenario they could move Draisaitl for a huge package and get a decent 2C coming back along with a winger.
