Not bad. Though I would anticipate Kings will move out salary this year to make room. Kempe would need to improve his numbers to get an offer sheet that the Kings won't match which isn't a massive overpayment.

For the other trade; DLR is worth more than a 6th, Schlemko is not worth a 5th and Shaw is far more valuable than a 4th & 5th.

The old offer sheet debate...a perfect tool, in the CBA, to make teams who overspend on their players or have too much good talents to keep under the cap pay for it. It's so well thought out, yet it is viewed as a huge NO NO from the GM's POV. It's so stupid! They make it feel like it's personal and will hold a grudge against a GM that would use this perfectly legitimate tactic...IT'S BUSINESS! IT'S NOTHING PERSONAL! Business is business! Also, it would benefit lower tier clubs since they usually are the one's with the cap space. It'll help parity and would make GM's hesitate before throwing huge amount of money at UFA's or bottom 6 players in general.

I will never understand the stubbornness of all the GM's to "respect the code" and not use an incredibly good opportunity to upgrade your team for practicly free...it's beyond me!

I wish we saw more offer sheets. I think the compensation tiers need to be restructured if the NHL wants this to become a reality. Teams don't bother because they know the team won't match, or they have to drastically over pay the player. The restructuring won't happen but its probably about the only way teams would start doing so if it didn't cost so much on their compensation.

Thanks for the info. Honestly, this roster looks pretty solid. Gardiner would be a great addition to the d core.

Not sure why Boston would have interest in DLR

Yeah, a 6th round pick isn't much, but JDLR hasn't proven to really be anything more than a tweener type. We have plenty of players who could do what he can. Keep the pick.

Was basically just meant for any team wanting him.
