After the Tavares ordeal, you'd think the fan base would temper this sort of non sense.

Not even that but Julian was the coach when he got ran out of Beantown. Why would he want to be under Julian again?

Because the Habs are the greatest franchise ever and everyone wants to play there and they are always cup contenders no matter what.

This didn't work with Tavares and y'all MTL fans were posting that you were willing to pay him $14M per year.

Elite players want to win -- they'll get paid to play anywhere.

^ Exactly! lol

It's nice to dream, but with the current state of Montreal combined with how poor a job Dallas would have to do to lose him...I just can't see Seguin going to the Canadiens. Just from an outsider's perspective let me ask, when does it become time for Montreal to rip the band aid off and start selling? I can't help but feel you're a pulled Carey Price hamstring away from another bad season. Reminds me a lot of the Rangers banking on Hank to somehow single-handedly win them a cup every year.

Speaking of the Rangers, Manhattan is about the same distance away from Seguin's hometown as Montreal is...they could try to...

Yeah no, just kidding! LOL

I could see Seguin going somewhere else, I don't think anyone can really say that the Stars are serious contender. They missed the playoffs the past 2 years and I don't see much improvement from them this season. They have a solid 1st line and very little depth. So maybe Seguin sees no cup runs in Dallas and wants to test the market. That being said, there are far better opportunities to join actual contending teams and give himself a real shot at winning the cup. No Montreal, Edmonton and Calgary are not real contenders. At least not for a few years.

Well, the Habs are the greatest franchise ever, but this is not a player they have any realistic expectation of landing.

I agree, there is a half way decent chance he leaves. They will likely have to overpay for 8 years to hold onto him. What I meant to say was Dallas would have to really mess things up to lose him to free agency. He has a MNTC, but they absolutely cannot afford to Tavares him.
