Trade With CAR

Description
Just for fun, but it's something I could see working out for both teams.

EDM: Edmonton gets a top-4 defenseman in Faulk, who can provide both solid offense and defense. They are in desperate need of a right-shot d-man and Faulk has been rumored to be on the block for a long time. Giving up Nuge would be tough, as he has been there for years, but if this team is to reach their full potential, changes have to be made.

CAR: Carolina is rather weak at the center position and moving out a guy like Faulk to bring in a potential top-line center in RNH would go a long way to help fix that. He is also on a multi-year deal and will provide roster security in a way that Jeff Skinner could not. Carolina could build around him for the future, as he is only 25 and playing with a veteran could help the development of young guys like Svechnikov and Necas.

Draft Picks: I was unsure of what to do with the picks, but my thought process was essentially that Carolina would get one, as they would have to retain salary for Edmonton, but also give up a draft pick, as they would be receiving a guy who would likely be their No. 1 Center. It was hard for me to gauge who would get the more valuable pick, so I just threw two up there idk.

Let me know what you think idk

Durring the last month of the 2017-18 season RNH was able to make himself basically untouchable because he could make McDavid play at a higher level than before (few IF any other players can do that). If the Oilers are moving him to Carolina you better believe the return is something along the lines of Faulk & Necas.

IMO something along the lines of Faulk for Strome & 2019 2nd is much more realistic for both sides

Faulk isn't that good. How many top 4 Dmen can a out of the playoff team have.
Max, with his post above might be right Faulk for Strome.

I see what you mean, but disagree on Edmonton being a bottom-feeder. Their mentality now has to be to win and I think that two years of Faulk gets them closer to achieving that goal. As for Strome, that is probably better for Edmonton, I just don't know how much Edmonton wants for him. The Blackhawks, for example, were interested in Faulk, but the price was apparently Brandon Saad.

Alright, cool. My response to the other guy kinda details my thought process regarding Faulk, but I understand

regarding Faulk, but I understand/quote]

We all do it when analyze trades, thinking how that one addition will greatly help a team, not taking into consideration(at times) the "subtraction" that is required to obtain that player.

If you look at Carolinas depth chart, they currently have 3 Centres who are eity NHL ready or could be by seadon start. Staal, Rask & Necas. And on defence they have a plethora of decent NHL defenceman. Hamilton, Slavin, Pesce, Faulk, De Haan, TVR, Bean(?), etc. Adding another Centre is much more beneficial then hoarding defencemen

If this was mid season or last off season, Faulk for RNH would have been a no brainer. But now that RNH is on Mcdavids wing, he was on pace for 90+ points, will that happen, not likely, but its not out of the realm that he nets 70-80 points playing on McDavid's wing. So based on assumption, would you trade a 70 point winger making 6 mill who is 25 years old?
