The only value to the oilers is dumping the Lucic contract and that isnt worth grabbing flaming garbage out of Van just to do it.

Strome = Bart
Gravel > Hutton
Nurse >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tanev

nice joke

Gravel had 3 points in 16 games, Hutton had 6 in 61, both are 6/7 dman
Stome and Bart both have 92 pts but Bart is a winger and Stome is a centre, points are a wash but Strome has more valuable due to being a C
Tanev has never played a full season and puts up an average of less then 15 points a season more often then not. He is an overpaid bottom pair dman on 28 teams in the league team. Nurse is a a top 4 dman. Hes also 5 years younger.

The only joke here is the thought process you used to to convince yourself that taking on Lucic's contract was worth Edmonton taking on 2 players they already have and a significant downgrade at D.

1) When healthy*, Tanev is an excellent **** suppression partner for a more offensive-minded Dman in the top four. It’s a joke calling him a bottom pairing guy.

2) Not sure why you’re comparing Baertschi and Strome when Strome isn’t involved in the trade. The swap at forward is Baertschi for Lucic, which nets the Oilers WAY more speed on the attack and fair bit of cap space.

3) Hutton is a decent LD that was a supplementary piece to fill in for the spot that Sekera is leaving. Could be DelZotto instead though. Either way, the Oilers can walk away from their cap hits at the end of the year.

1) Oilers already have Russell and Larsson that are defensively minded enough to fill that role in the top 4 with Sekera out. Tanev is a bottom pair dman on just about any team in the league except maybe Vancouver.
2) Im comparing Bart with Strome because this trade is adding more of what the Oilers already have, just like i was comparing Gravel and Hutton. Not to mention that Bart is overpaid $800-1M
3) Gravel can fill the void for as Russell moves up and Bear can be the 7th dman, Hutton is WAY overpaid, he should be giving his agent nightly rim jobs for getting him that contract.

See above

If you are the Oilers you don't make this deal as its a downgrade in every position. There just in any value in it for them and trying to offload Lucic for more bad contracts is a losing proposition.

If you think Russell and Tanev are remotely comparable in skill level I’ll just end the discussion then. Thanks for the feedback.

If your the Oilers, you absolutely do this trade, maybe swap Hutton out for a 3rd or 2nd though
