If Nurse were willing to sign for 2 years at $3.2M, it would have happened. Nurse wants term and a good payday. With Sekera all but finished forever, this should be a no-brainer -- unless there was more to that bar fight with Draisaitl than EDM fans want to admit.

The team is right but you mis-handled the LTIR. May I suggest: (1) send Aberg and Khaira to the AHL. (2) Bring up Montoya, Persson and Marody. (3) Put Sekera on the LTIR (pro). Voila! You now have $5.5 in cap room. (4) Restore the roster the way you want it. (5) Re-sign Nurse. When I did it in this sequence, I ended up with a little over $3M in cap space. The key is to get as close to the cap as possible before using the LTIR.

You’re counting on bounce back deals from pretty much everybody, haven’t addressed glaring deficiencies on the wing, and failed to replace Sekera. Not nearly good enough.
