Sieg-Carl
Orlov-Schultz
Alexeyev/Martin-Martin/Jensen
Something like that.</div></div>
Agreed, the expansion draft is going to make sure we probably lose one defenseman ideally

Been Playing against Men in The NLA or Swiss League and Now get's a shot in the AHL after playing against Men for a few years now. Will be interesting to see how he does. At worst he's a Top 6 AHL'er and his best his probably Bottom 6 role player. Either way he's capable and its a fair contract after being a 4th rounder in 2016

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buchiegang</b></div><div>If he’s produced fine then why does everybody want to ship him out?</div></div>
Because You need to move cap out to get cap in to make it work under the cap. Also He's still a decent third liner that can help out a rebuilding rangers squad. Johansen still has potential, Pilon adds good depth down the center and the 1st rounder is a 1st rounder, (Johansen is a former first round pick too so thats added value)

Brutally Honest Description
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CastingCouchGuy</b></div><div>Big facts to the second paragraph. You’re out to lunch in the first sentence. The caps 3rd line is just Lars Eller. It’s a joke. Leipsic can’t finish and Hathaway hardly does anything. And then there’s our defense who just looks totally lost. I don’t get it. Caps have glaring holes and it’s very obvious this year</div></div>
Scoring isnt the issue. I could care less about the scoring when your defense/goaltending is so far below average that it makes Toronto's actually look good. It's abhorrent.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>That makes sense. The point being that Vatanen is a great fit for us is valid and I'd like to see GMBM make the move.</div></div>
As A Caps fan I love this move as well, Ideally I would want one of Martinez, Vatanen, or Hamonic to shoulder tougher minutes on the right side because Jensen has just not worked out. I'd realistically be fine giving up this package because of the organizational depth on defense as well as the need to go for it now. Team's core isn't getting any younger and I think the need to go for it is well enough

Washington Capitals signed Nicklas Bäckström (5 Years / $9,200,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Danny12357</b></div><div>This type of thinking would be ok in a Non-cap league, but the reality is you have to pay for what you are going to get, not for what you got already. Younger players pushing to get closer to their actual value means it's not going to be a good decision to sign players based on their past achievements.</div></div>
The alternative is letting him walk and giving up more assets/cap space to replace that First/Second line center. I've rarely seen Brian MacLellan make a bad move so I trust him here. It is a bit of an overpayment but in today's climate, Backstrom is realistically a 1st line center with tremendous defensive and playmaking ability. Points aren't everything and a players value can be measured in things you can't measure. Plus he's just a clutch player

Now he could be amazing but I’m not risky CM who is gojng to be a stud. He might actually be better</div></div>
I realize in making this now it might be a slight overpayment but Mostly because Im buying into the hype. Not really meant to be a serious post more of a fun idea, but I'd imagine he would cost somewhere around a 1st and A prospect and roster player at the most.

(VGK/BUF) - Miller for 2021 2nd RD pick and 2022 5th RD pick
If Botteril really wants playoffs this year for Buff they need to continue to make moves like this. Next you move Ristolainen for a legit top 6 Forward and you're in business. The only question mark is goaltending for the Sabres right now. Hutton and Ullmark are a decent one-two but to get to the playoffs they need to upgrade at that position for more consistency.

I really like the Turris and Neal deals. two decent players before they arrived at their respective new teams. Zucker trade is alright, might have to add a tiny bit more value from Buffalo side but good other than that.

True, but with Florida State Taxes it would even out with the contract.
Kucherov got a similar deal and he's arguably worth more so that was a decent comparable.

Would've liked to get him on longer term, but considering his age this is understandable. He's a future bottom 6 forward so nothing too big here.

I don't like the amount of Stick penalties he takes, but he's still a valuable asset when he's on his game. I'd say wait another year or two to deal him then we can call up Seigenthaler or Johansen because I don't like the term on his deal.

All GM's preparing for Seattle, teams are going to make some odd moves in the next three years that I bet most people are going to question, but in the end it's all a part of their "master plan" to prepare for Seattle and the expansion draft. Although some moves could end up backfiring. *Cough* Florida *Cough* Minnesota
