Skinner had a full NMC and his contract was expiring this year so he had a lot of baggage with him - that said, he still returned a 2nd and high level prospect. This deal on the other hand is actual poo (pun intended). EDM should start with Strome and a 1st and then work from there. But since its Chiarelli i can see a 1 for 1 deal of Drai for Faulk

Faulk declined last year and playing 3rd pairing minutes will not improve his standing. Skinner>Faulk so no way the starting point is Strome and a 1st. If it is it makes sense why he hasn't moved. But as we get closer to the start of the season Faulk will be off loaded to easy the paychecks being signed.

Haha it's not even close. Yes this a best case trade for Oilers but in reality the best the Canes will get for Faulk is a mid level prospect and a low end pick. I would do a 2nd for Faulk and if a prospect is needed the pick round drops.

Faulk is seen as a 3rd pairing guy. He slipped last year and will not be getting any additional playing time.

He had a terrible season last year. No doubt about it. But before that he scored 15, 16, and 17 so he's capable of being a top offensive D in the league. His defense is definitely suspect at times especially when you have Slavin and Pesce doing all the right things. He's a third pairing D on CAR for sure. But hes a top 4 on every other team not named Nashville and he a PP1 guy for just about every team (including CAR).

His value to EDM is much higher than his value to CAR. Last I checked EDM was dead last in PPP. And that is with the best player in the world. Faulk automatically moves you out of that. EDM right side is also non existent outside of Larson who is a solid defensive defensmen but has no offensive upside at all.

My point is that EDM needs him and CAR doesn't need to trade him so if anyone is getting the short end of the deal it's EDM.

Then don’t trade for him. But a 4th liner a 3rd string goalie and a 3rd won’t do it. They’d be better off holding onto him, letting him play for 2 years and walk for nothing.

not sure any team in the league is going help the Oilers out this early. I believe a deal to be made would be larger and be for rnh. and I get this a Oilers team thread so I'll be ripped for pointing out that facts that oiler players aren't valued near as high as fans think. strome straight up seems very low for faulk.

I agree it will probably be for RNH. I would personally rather have Strome and a 1st or some combo of picks.

i feel like CAR will make a big push for Duchene or even E. Staal as their 1C and it may involve sending Rask the other way. CAR at that point needs a 3C and I think Strome fits in nicely. He's 25 (same age as Rask) so not the youngest but he wont command a ton of money to stay. Throw the kids on his wings and i think he'll be happy with 3-4 mil a year long term. As long as he put up 30-40 points and doesnt **** the bed on defense I'll be happy.
