I beg to differ. two 1sts, a second, and a great prospect is pretty huge. Especially because you HAVE to move him.

2 first round picks in a loaded draft when you don't have one and a top shelf defensive prospect "doesn't even start the conversation"

folks in ottawa have got to be realistic

taking a camp dump in Pominville, that drops the value, hes a soon to be 36 year old 35 point player making over 5m. Really negative value there.....2 last 1st rounders a late 2nd rounder and Guhle. That offers little to nothing that the Sens would want, the return on Karlsson would be way too risky with those value in picks. Sorry its just a bunch of stuff and nothing really of high end assets to out bid teams on getting Karlsson.

Like I said it doesnt even start the conversation bc it isnt even in the realm of what teams could offer and would offer to get the deal done. Since you are getting the 8 year extension as well, that ups the value in what the Sabres should give up. Its just not a good trade package my man. Quality over quantity

Well, we disagree and prepare to be disappointed in the eventual return if 2 1sts and a great prospect doesn't even get you to pick up the phone.

Im not a Sens fan, so I wont be disappointed in the slightest. But honestly do you think the Sens taking a negative value player in the trade in Pominville, who the Sens would have to dump just to make the cap work for them, plus extending him the extra year is worth 2 20-30 range picks, and a late 2nd rounder with a Decent, not anything too special D prospect in Guhle

The sens do all the heavy work for the Sabres in taking the cap dump and extending the extra year and gain nothing of real value there. Picks are nice but they aren't top 10-15 range picks, and the D prospect isnt really a standout to their own current D prospects .

pominville is in the last year of his deal and makes less than karlsson and ottawa is well under the cap

They still have to pay him, 5m in Salary thats a lot of real money to little to nothing on the team. This further makes the worse giving the Avs an even better shot at a top lottery pick.
Like I said, this package does little to nothing for the Sens...they do all the heavy lifting, they give Karlsson to a division rival, they get 100 times worse this year when they dont have their own pick and have to hope that some draft picks might turn into players 3-5 year down the line.

Its just not a good package, its just a bunch of pieces trying to add up to value when none of them really stack up what they could get from other teams
