Description
Through the month of august I'll make a quick review of each team and how they can improve on the short or long term via trades. Today the Vancouver Canucks. A new era is beginning in Vancouver. For the first time in two decades the twins won't be playing in Vancouver. But there's reason for optimism. First Horvat is developing as a excellent two-way center, second Boeser first season was exceptionnal, Petersson is a lock to be in the lineup after breaking records as a teenager in Sweden hockey League. Then you got prospects like Dahlen, Goldobin, Gaudette who at some point this season will likely see some playing time. However they made some moves that raise eyebrows. Roussel and Beagle aren't bad players, but at a average 3M/season for 4 years eachs.... add it to a bad contract like Eriksson with 4 years left on his contract and you got 14M spend on 3-4th line forward not a good way to start a rebuild. The defense looks also good on the future and it might be the year we see Juolevi start playing for Vancouver. Also in the mix is prospect Hugues. In the meantime they're ready Edler and Tanev will be the first pair and even though both of them might be traded at some point this season. On net Markstrom is gonna be the #1 goalie to start the season, but he might lost his place at the end in favor of prospect Demko. He's seems the most NHL-ready prospect and I expect Vancouver to use him at some point the season to see what he got. Based on all that Vancouver is a team on the rebuild and they should try to trade some players in order to get better in the future. That's it for today, feel free to comment and any positive one is appreciated.

I think Vancouver would accept these trades. I also think that Sutter will get traded at the TDL or at the draft. Beagle makes Sutter redundant. Having two of them would block Pettersson or Gaudette in the future. Finally, I think Granlund is in the lineup or traded at the deadline.
