Description

I don't love the Patches deal but Hawks need help up front and need to give up one of their prized D prospects along with AA. Patches, Saad and Toews would be a formable 1st line and Schmaltz, Kane, and Cat would be a sick scoring line.

The only other option is Panarin, but if that isn't panning out, this trade happens by Christmas.

Forsling and Hillman will both play 7th D guy on the left along with Jokiharju. Kahun, Highmore both will get turns up front but Kahun will be limited to 10 games or less to avoid the huge bonus payment. Martinsen will play a bit when Hawks face physical teams.

Had a similar thought with a Patches trade.

I think of they do acquire him, he plays with Kane and Schmaltz.

It's the 2019/20 season that cap get tight again. 2.5m raise for Patches, and if Schmalz is deserving of a big raise....and others.

I don’t think we need patches, if anything we can always have Seabrook play in the top 6.

There will still be cap room; roughly $3M in space after signing Schmaltz for $6M, Patches goes to $7m and Sikura at $3M. The 2019/2020 season, the cap will be at least $81.5M.
