Could add another defender on the UFA market. Demers maybe. Don't think they will go for the Yandle and 30+ Year old FA's. Sedin's could use a better winger but again don't see them going after Loui either being his age and term of contract he will demand. Okposo would be interesting.

If they only spend big on one FA this offseason I really hope it is Yandle, as long as the deal is 5 years or less. Demers is a younger RH version of Hamhuis, which is fine, but Yandle is the only real PP QB available and he drives possession at 5v5. This is also the first Canucks post I've seen where someone's targeted Hoffman. I like him but is he worth $5.5?

Just not a fan of giving a 30 year old 5-6 Million on a 5 year deal. He would be nice on PP for sure and would help. With Hoffman the guy is a legit 30 goal guy who plays on a bad team and is 26, Lucic going to get 6, Okposo to. Hoffman is the real deal. I just want to see some scoring and guys in the 24-26 year range the best way to go.

Why would Ottawa accept that trade?

No, Ottawa would not accept the trade and neither would Carolina.

If Ottawa cannot get Hoffman signed, or he wants to much money. The trade is hypothetical right? Carolina and Arizona will be looking to move up to the cap, teams do it all the time? It's the salary teams look at, 3 million but a 4.5 cap hit.

Lucic is over rated. 6 years at 6mllion per year is wayyyy to risky. There is a reason why boston never signed him long term. He is inconsistent. We are not gonna sign any big ufa this year. It doesnt make sense since we are rebuilding for the next 2 years and we need to see where our young players develop and see what we really need.
