WHOA!! A successful offer sheet?!!! I like it but I think the cap hit would have to be higher for TBay to consider letting Kucherov go. Although Montreal's 9th overall this year is enticing as well.... not a bad trade IF the Bolts are able to re-sign Stamkos I guess.

Besides giving up draft picks, there are other reasons not to sign RFAs from another team. How much money will Galchenyuk demand next year and Price two years from now.
Would signing a UFA such as Okopso, Ericsson, Perron, be better and keep the draft picks too?

If we worry too much about how much other players are going to get, we're going to miss out on good players now. Heck, for all we know, Price, Galchenyuk ( when UFA), Pacioretty might all want to leave after their next contracts are up. Can't gamble a chance at a star now. Not too mention a lineup that can win a cup potentially with them. Smart GM's will find space to keep the important players signed and the replaceable players...well... replaced for cheaper.

Kucherov > Okopso, Ericsson, Perron. etc in pretty much every single way at the moment.

Also there's no certainty those players come to Montreal even if we give them top dollar. With an offer sheet, the player IS signing that contract. Seeing as Kucherov is the real deal, i'd make that move is a friggin heartbeat. 7M for a stud winger is absolutely fine considering 50-60 pt guys make 6-7M a year currently. If this is a long term deal, He'd be a steal in year 4 of 7 and on. Soon players like Matt Beleskey and Jamie McGinn will be making 6M because they scored 25G once and GM's are desperate to improve their teams. 7M for Kucherov is well worth the draft pick compensation. If this were for a trade, we'd probably have to throw in prospects and a NHL regular also just to make Tampa consider it.

pretty sure you can't do 8 years on a offer sheet.

if they pay Kucherov 7 mil they will have let stamkos go, and might even let go Killorn, wich becomes a great leftwing option for montreal as a second plan, because u can't forget that next year tampa has to resign , Hedman ,Bishop,Johnson, Palat,Drouin, they will have to let guys go and giving an offer sheet to kucherov pushes them to let go stamkos or killhorn, i don't think Stamkos is a good option for montreal unless he signs at rebates wich won't be the case ,, so just hopping to see him go in western conf , while we could make a push for killhorn at a price that tampa just cant afford to pay him because of next year cap space problem , if MTL do sign killhorn it won't be for as much of any viable option available on the UFA left wing (Ladd, Lucic, Eriksson, etc, ) keeping space to for a second option for RW with Okposo , Eriksson, etc

what other reasons, contract ending with markov gives space to resign galchenyuk , and plekanec's contract ends to resign patch and price
