Sharks going forward

Created by: slepler
Team: 2019-20 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 13, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I left a few spots open in case the CH kids explode on the scene this year, and are ready for 2019 or in case they sign/trade for some depth vets.

Obviously, Add and resigning karlsson both guts the $$ avaible for forwards and eliminates multiple likely 2019 sharks (balcers and Norris were definitely looking like sharks within a year or two.)

However, the moving of Tierney means suomela and Gambrell will get a good long look in teal.

And halby or Gregor could make a splash too. The farm is definitely the worst in the NHL now, but the roster may well be the best. Gunna be interesting!!!

Montreal really don't 3rd or 4rd line players . This is for sure. And no 3 pair defensemen. They have enough of these. Find another place to dump your excess players.

3 players short and only 1.3m won’t cut it. Also squeezed all your rfa/ufa. I can’t help but think this is a rental. Not without any other big moves.

Actually without Pavelskis 7M and trading him for some prospects, they are under a Cap.....with that defence they can win 82 games + all playoff rounds 1 : 0

Let's do mathematics which is not hockey at all but is in some kind of way.

Remove Thornon 5 millions next year and get Pavelski at 2 millions instead of 6 millions,. That will give you 9 millions . With this excess in millions which we do not have in our personnal live, that gives money to sign Karlsson to a 9 million long term contract.

Pavelski for 2M is Fantasy...he can claim 6M+ on the basis of past seasons, noone can sell him : " You wont be 70 point anymore, so we give you 2M"

also Karlsson 9M is to low...just saying

I believe we can agree in sports with high number of shots on goal D and Goalie are of most importance. SJS cemented D ( with possible 11M resign of Karlsson next year ) and Goalie is above average...so they will have to wave goodbye to Pavelski who is entering decline years, hopefully pull something out of trading him and build on Kane and Couture in front

and as i said in upper post....they can win all the games till Stanley with 1 : 0

perhaps sorensen, gambrell, and letunov can be in the 800k range. That would save 600k. then goodrow can be resigned for 700k. so that adds a forward for a net 100k. That leaves 1.2M for just one roster spot.

And if MTL doesnt want dillon or karlsson, someone will. They are solid players for reasonable prices. The return will be small, but there are markets out there for those guys.

Extneding Karlsson in the 11-12M range works. If they must, they can also consider moving braun to save $$, but I dont think they need to.

A top 7F of Pavelski, Kane, Couture, Labanc, Meier, Hertl, Donskoi is pretty darn good. And If suomela is another donskoi, which he very may well be, then that solidifies the 3rd line C. Gambrell may also establish himself as a solid player. Clearly, they will need some help in terms of depth forwards, but they will resign karlsson long term and can ice a very solid team for a long time.
