How to Solve the Nylander Situation

Description

This makes perfect sense for the Leafs. Trade Matthews for Sikura, who has a much higher upside and will be asking for less money next season. It won't be easy to get Chicago to accept this, so a few picks may need to be added. As for Marner, trade him for a better winger who is locked up for the next 4 seasons in Andrew Shaw. Having Shaw locked up means that the scare of re-signing Marner next season is gone and the cap issue will be no more! Nylander can have his 8 million, which may be a bit of an overpay for a second liner, but it seems like a good deal.

Leafs will have plenty of money left over for next years free agency, especially since there's no way they should EVER re-sign Gardiner. This will allow them to go all in and perhaps sign a superstar such as Ondrej Pavalec.

Shaw is much better than Marner anyways. I wouldn't blame Montreal is they didn't accept
