first, let me just say, unsalvageable,
second, I don't see how a year of Mark Stone is worth the rights to Nylander for 4+. Nevermind the first rounder.

I am honestly shocked to not see some Leaf chirps here. I may have judged you too quickly sir.

dude I've got nothing against the leafs. I love toronto and honestly I think it just makes the league, and particularly the division way more exciting when the leafs are good. I'm happy they're back (partially because I think they have some mental block with the bruins....it was 4-1). That said I just don't like they're blue line.

One thing I'm sick of is sens fans thinking they're rentals are going to get them all the assets they need. If I see one more Stone and Duchene for Makar and Ottawas pick back, I'm going to puke.

Nylander is worth nothing if they can't sign him, I.E. Karlsson. Its better for Toronto because they don't have a gigantic loss in talent. They do lose a huge talent but gain one that will help them with their cap in the future for signings of Matthews and others. Stone will not make as much as Nylander its that simple. Plus Toronto gets picks and Ottawa gets a pick that will be late 20's possibly later cause that offense is gonna be amazing.

I usually love chirping sens fans but I think they've endured enough. This hope of good trades may be all that is keeping some of them from a complete nervous breakdown.

They have his rights for 4 years.

He is worth pretty much the same unsigned as he is with a 8 year 7 million dollar deal in hand.

The Leafs have a window of low cap here with Tavares and Matthews they need to take advantage of and having Nylander sit for a year will not help that and its not like stone isnt a good player, he is no Nylander but he is a good player.

nope. I'm giving it to them for a bit longer. I was called an idiot so many times for suggesting that the sens aren't getting Sergachev, two first, Foote, and Tyler Johnson for Erik Karlsson. Literally that package was suggested and when I said it was absurd they would all say "do you think they're going to just give away the best d man in the world??" They're sitting here with the worst team in the NHL, no first rounders this year, and I'm here to laugh at them.

well, he's better than Nylander. He's way, way, way, way better than Nylander. Let's get that straight. I'm sure Nylander would takea one year 6 million dollar deal. That's probably what they'll settle at. He likely wants term, they want to bridge, they'll settle on neither and do this all over again next season.

A) You're way overrating Nylander. B) regarding your salary prediction, Stone is already close to where Nylander wants to be and will get get a raise himself. If the Leafs can't afford to pay Willie, they sure as hell can't afford Stone.

Difference is Nylander is a RFA, therefore TOR owns his rights if he wants to play. Offer sheet could be signed, but he would have to want to play elsewhere (in this case OTT, not likely), and the Leafs could take the compensation, (which OTT does not have). Karlsson was gone at the end of the year with OTT getting nothing if he walked away.

Nylander is worth nothing if they can't sign him, e.g. Karlsson.

Apparently, you're unfamiliar with the difference between a restricted free agent (RFA) and an unrestricted free agent (UFA). Erik Karlsson was the latter; Nylander is the former. Your argument would be stronger if you were talking about Jake Gardiner.

Oh, man, do I second you about the Karlsson trade value. I posted FIVE different combinations for him from three different teams and got roasted for all of them by Ottawa fans -- and each of my packages was objectively better than what the Sens got from San Jose for him. How do I hit "LIKE" five times?
