JankowskiBennett

Initial Creation Date: Oct. 16, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Jankowski coming off a rookie season of 17 goals has been scratched for 2 games early on, much like Heinen with one scratch. The Flames have a glut of young centers so will be interesting to see if Jankowski is in the lineup tomorrow night and if we will get a better look at him. Bennett is another natural center who is playing the wing so the Bruins could take advantage of the Flames abundance of young centers.
Heinen is being used as an arbitrary player based on previous AGM's. If Bruins can find a way to minimize the cost it would be optimal of course.

But why?

Jankowski hasn't really shown much at the NHL level. We have better center option in Providence, so why not just use one of them instead? I also don't put much into Heinen getting scratched for a game. The kid was scratched last year, as was Jake DeBrusk. Donato was scratched this year, as was Anders Bjork...doesn't mean a thing.

I have always liked Jankowski's game. He's a rangy center who has a pretty good shot. Hence, how he scored 17 goals last season playing 3rd/4th line. The point of this was to say watch the game tomorrow night if he's in the lineup and gauge from there to see if he would be of benefit. I personally have not watched him play since last season so I can't say if his development has dipped.

Will be interesting to see how Bennett does as well, another center playing the wing in Calgary right now.

The options in Providence have had a rough start to the year as well in their first 5 games so it would be something to keep tabs on.

Still don't see him being worth Heinen.

Doesn't have to be Heinen in the trade, could buy low if Jankowski continues to sit

I heard Bennett's had problems on defense and possibly face-offs at center. Haven't watched enough Calgary games to be sure, but I think that was why he's on the wing now.

As for this trade; I don't do it. Heinen was too good last season before the final month or so.

That's fair, as mentioned in the description Heinen is just an arbitrary name. I've heard the same things about the defensive aspects to his game. Will say that his defensive game is still better than Spooners and Bennett seems to be caught on a team with Monahan, Backlund, Dube, and Ryan playing center. That's not including Lindholm, and Czarnik who are natural centers playing the wing at the moment .

I do like Jankowski's upside, I just think you're selling too low on Heinen, and not taking into account the centers the bruins have in their system that are almost ready to play.

True. It is a low sell on Heinen but like I said in the description it doesn't have to be him.

You're right, the Bruins do have a good group of young centers who could make the jump but you're looking at 2 prospects in the AHL and one in the OHL so Jankowski/Bennett are players that could be moved to wing if that time comes when they push for the 3C position and could slide into other roles barring injury.
