The thing is the talk is they are negotiating a bridge deal around 3-4 years at about 5 million so when it is all said and done he will be a very desirable contract to have. Saying that i do agree that things will probably need to be a lot worse to cosider this trade for STL like they fire Yeo but things are still not clicking there.

There's no way Nylander signs a low cap hit bridge deal. His agent is looking at Forsberg, Pastranak, and Ehlers as comparables and are all at least 6 million per year. They got contracts before the cap went up meaning Nylander's agent would expect closer to 7 with reports he asked for around 8. If the Leafs knew they would want to trade Nylander then they don't need to sign him to quite as low of a cap hit since it won't be stuck on them to pay. Blues are deep on the blue line (once Bortuzzo returns from injury) but not so much on the right wing. Parayko deserves RD1 minutes and won't get that behind Pietrangelo. Plus Bozak would beg Blues management for his old buddy Willy to come to town.
