Production wise Rutta is better. We havent seen Murphy play this year so I agree its difficult to say which is better but so far Rutta has been fine.

The trade is almost there without having to take Ceci. Why would we take him, retain two mil, then trade him for a 5th round pick? If the hawks are to make a move for a player like Dzingel, who only has one year left on his contract and not a guarantee resign, it is because they are making a playoff push. So why retain salary and restrict us on further moves at the deadline. I think all hawks fans on this site want Dzingel though, he can help us tremendously. I'd make the lines different tho.

Kahun - Toews - Debrincat
Schmaltz - Dzingel - Kane
Saad - Anisimov - Sikura
Hayden - Kruger - Kampf

Murphy and Rutta play different games. Rutta may be more offensive but Connor Murphy is better defensively, and the Hawks need more defense not offense this year.

I kind of see Davidson as a left handed Murphy thats why I traded Murphy. We'll see what happens when he gets back but Rutta will most probably be traded before Murphy anyways.

I like those lines a lot too. But Q wont scratch Kunitz and wont play Hayden for some reason. I think Dzingel is a better player than Murphy, Dzingel is a middle 6 player while murphy is maybe a 4/5/6. Ceci is a negative value contract so it lowers the value of Dzingel to Murphy's value. Dzingel + retained Ceci value is about equal to Murphys contract anyways so its not like we're taking away cap space. Plus it gives us picks for the future which we could use. Dzingel is a good ol Chicago boy so thats why I think he'd resign, and if he doesnt then more cap space for us.

I guess taking on the cap space isn't terrible when you put it as being the same as Murphy's, but something else could probably be done so we don't have to do that. it's not like sens are tight on the cap this season and need to get rid of him. Dzingel is definitely more valuable than Murphy. Dzingel is on the rise too, he's only getting better. 41 points playing for the sens last season, 20+ goals. I do think he will resign if we get him because he's from Chicago, I've said that a few times on this site, but it's not a guarantee. Idk why Q has played martinsen more than Hayden this season. Hayden will play about 9-10 minutes and Martinsen will play about 5. Why even put him in the lineup? Kunitz won't be the guy getting consistently scratched but it will happen, along with him going to the 4th line.
CFMan liked this.
