They would never trade within the division

I wouldn't be so quick to say no from MTLs perspective. We have Josh Brook and Cale Fluery coming up the pipes in the near future as RD. Scherbak is a very good talent but just no place for him on this team, either he gets traded or sent on waivers, and Byron is the only piece of this trade I would hate to lose...consistent 20 goal scorer (put him with Matthews or JT and watch those numbers rise) on a friendly contract with term. If Dubas offers this, im taking it every time.

exactly my thinking of this proposed trade. we can afford to trade Juulsen because of weber and brook. petry will eventually be traded too, hopefully for a LHD

Leafs are more of in a win mode, so they don't do the deal. If a trade helps your team, I don't understand why teams wouldn't trade within their division. Then don't they trade within the conference? So half the teams aren't trading partners?
Regarding the trade. If the Habs were did get Nylander, I would put him at centre. Thinking he can play there and the Habs have a spot for him, especially if Byron was traded.

i totally agree with u. but sometimes gm's and ownership doesnt want players burning thier teams whom they traded away. like ottawa and hoffman, and hoffman ends up in florida for which melnyck wasn't too thrilled apparently. i would list him at center, but i didnt make the lines in this post. only the trade

Toronto says no, partly for the divisional trading but most because of the return.

This is juulsen and a 3rd for nylander... would you do liljegren and a third for Gallagher? We could throw some garbage on top like jooris and ennis?

scherbak has hella potential. juulsen is a legit RHD. u should focus on him more next time u watch the habs. byron is a 20 goal scorer making less then 3mill for the next 4 years and is one of the fastest player in the league. so no, we arent trading a 3 rd and juulsen to u. i actually included a 2nd

My comment was not to diminish Byron, I like him, but where does he fit in on our team? 4th line? Marlies? He’s doing well this year but really not something we need to add to our roster. And i’m Not rolling the dice on scherbak being the worlds latest bloomer...

Just my honest opinion. I would just rather wait on liljegren than give up nylander for juulsen. Personally I would rather just keep nylander otherwise trade him for a more developed Dman. We have lots of young talent.

If you were to propose something better and have liljegren and nylander go your way that would be interesting. But when I look at your roster all I see is Gallagher and we both know he isn’t moving no matter what we add.

No because of the Habs. No because it doesn't benefit the Leafs in any way! Maybe Juulsen could be a healthy scratch. Hard No on the Leafs side.

im just gonna think that u have never seen juulsen or byron play. cause that comment was absurd. if juulsen was on the leafs, he'd be on ur top pair playing 20 plus mins a night

domi has 2 goals, 6 assists in 8 games. danault has like 4 points in 8 games, but his line mates, tatar and gally have 5 goals and 3 goals respectively.
