So far this season the team has looked pretty bad in every game they’ve played. I’ve watched every one of their games this season and they’ve just lacked that winning spark that they played with last season. A big part of that, I have to say, is a lot of injuries to important players so far and the suspension to Schmidt. On top of all that GMGM has handed out massive contracts to said injured and suspended players that were unnecessary at this point in the season and put us in a tough position looking ahead. While I love those two, I’m not sure giving them massive paydays after just one season of production is enough this early in the current season. I’m still expecting the team to bounce back and push for a wildcard spot or better down the stretch and not be a seller at the deadline.
In terms of the RNH trade, that is a deadline trade for this season in the hopes that the Oilers continue to struggle this season and they make another of their trademark brilliant trades. While, yes, there are plenty of teams who would be happy to trade for RNH which are arguably better than us, I would obviously prefer he goes to us.
The current outlook doesn’t look bright but things can change quite quickly in this league, thanks!
