I think Detroit is one of the few teams that is counting every penny at the moment. Adding an extra 500K may not be even possible for them. Especially on long term contract.

Good idea but wrong team IMO.

it 1 year difference and 500k more for a 3rd pick getting a very similar player who's younger .
they have 3 million plus in cap space after LTIR relief on Zetterberg and Franzen and its not like they are going to be signing players come TDL

In fact they'll be moving out Vanek and Nyqvist to contenders at TDL when this trade would be going down as indicated in the description .

DET gives up a consistent Center for a Winger who plays a similar role and a 3rd pick .
its Win Win

Sorry but No, Detroit has no use for Shaw. At the moment.

A team looking to win the lottery and is rebuilding rarely thinks that way. Yes for 3rd rounder but the adding long term salary... Not so much. Like i said i like the concept but IMO i dont think Detroit would be willing to do it. A team looking to male the playoffs and needs experience? Hell yeah.

Agreed. Maybe when they finally land Trouba they could use Shaw. ?

If Montreal will retain the 1.5, I think the Wings should do the deal- 20 Mil coming off the books anyways next year and doubtful any of the current roster free agents at seasons end will get any offers so the 2.4 mil figure for Shaw's veteran presence doesn't sound that bad(would be one of the better deals on the roster and he would be a trade asset for next years deadline) and getting 3rd rounder to boot (sold-i like him but doubtful glendening nets a third by himself)

Long Term By Definition has to be more then 1 years difference
i'll break it down for you
LG = 3 years
AS = 4 years

4-3=1
1 year does not equal long term .

i agree with the rest of your opinion on the matter but this 'long term salary ' bit is just factually untrue

what's it take to move Glendenning to MTL then ?
(not asking if you would , asking what it would take if it happened regardless)

Probably a 2019 3rd rounder should suffice, Or a one year cap dump more then likely.

shoot thats all , for some reason i thought you'd value him more but i suppose a 29 soon to be 30 year old undrafted depth player probably isnt to big on the list of priorities
