A twenty-two Nylander for a soon to be thirty yr old left handed D-man and Pearson who is close to 27? How does this deal help the Leafs in anyway? Does Kyle Dubas want to live in LA?

First if I think he’s a rangers fan and secondly this deal is short at least a first round pick, I would say 2....

Would not do as a Leafs fan.

Pearson is having a bad year, is 27, and doesnt do anything we dont already have.

Id want Vilardi/Kupari as a center piece with Muzzin.
Muzzin only has 1 more year on his contract, at which point we will have Marner and Matthews hopefully signed to long term deals, so cap will be tight again if he plays well.
So in my mind its Nylander for 2 years of Muzzin, Kempe to help in the short term and Kupari as the shiny toy.

It's bad "on ice" deal for the Leafs. It's a bad "cap" deal for the Kings. Paying Nylander 8m seems like an overpayment. Check the Kings 2019/20 roster, with a 8m Nylander cap...29m in three players.

On top of that, the Kings only give big money out to players who will soon be declining assets. Let's be honest here, the smartest thing to do in the salary cap era is to underpay young players and then give them massive contracts in their 30's that they can't possibly live up to. Its the smartest plan! And when your team struggles because they are old and slow, you can fire the coach because he can't make old legs young again. Its fool proof.

Not this year. But for 2018/19 it certainly was.....and even for the two following years. Maybe 2021/22 and 22/23 was fair. Bargain this year and next year.
Since the Leafs gave a lot to obtain Muzzin, maybe the Leafs would have been better making the trade.
