Probably will not happen as is, I am curious as to what the Rangers would add if they were to make a move like this.
What do you think it would take for this move?
      2.
      STL
      1. Nash, Rick ($1,300,000 retained)
      Additional Details:
Salary retained seems completely necessary even though Nash's contract expires in two seasons, but the real question is what do the Rangers really need to add? Disregard Nash's stats this year and just view him as a player for a second. He has very very good hands, good defensive awareness, good shot, and can be a difference maker when put on the right line. St. Louis could put Nash behind Tarasenko making him more dangerous as he would play against second pair defensemen as opposed to top pairing defensemen. In St. Louis Nash is easily a 35+ goal scorer.
So really, what do the Rangers have to add?
      3.
      COL
      1. Stepan, Derek
      Additional Details:
I saw this before and I wanted to play with the idea a bit, some say this is even and some say this is uneven. Personally I think it is relatively even because of a couple of things, Stepan is capable of bringing valuable experience to Colorado's lockeroom, a long term contract so they don't have to worry about him walking, same age player, a nifty passer, and Step will probably flourish since he won't be on such a big stage anymore.
Let me know about his one

      1. Ference, Andrew
      Additional Details:
      2017 2nd round pick
      2016 3rd round pick
      2016 6th round pick
      EDM
      1. Staal, Marc
      Additional Details:
Not a salary dump. Rangers take on the rest of Ference's contract so I think EDM is the salary dumper here. Rangers get the second, third, and sixth not for Marc Staal, they get it for Staal and the fact that they are gonna eat the rest of Ference's contract. I think this is a fair deal, let me know

Staal's contract is much worse in my opinion. Although Ference is 37, I believe EDM would rather have him than Staal's declining game with $5.7 AAV though 2021. Ference is also their captain with a NMC and 1 year left. It would be great for the Rangers, but I don't see Edmonton doing it.

Dutch has more value than Stepan...Dutch is younger, has a better contract, and has more career points and more of a goal scorer than Stepan

Gee, by your description the Rangers are getting screwed in the these deals. You realize that other teams have also have the same salary cap as the Rangers.
Again...Shattenkirk is a far superior player than Nash this stage in their careers. Even with salary retention Nash cost the Blues 6.5m a year. Is Nash worth that? NO.
Marc Staal, not a salary dump? C'mon man. Next year after making the trade it costs the Oilers 2.4m in salary difference. Then for the next four years it costs the Oilers 5.7m a year to keep Staal. Isn't that a salary dump?
You signed Yandle for 5.5m, so don't you think anyone that would have give up assets to acquire 5.7m Staal is nothing more than fantasy. Awful trades with no thought except to give Rangers more cap space.
