Both trades are awful for the other team. You dont get a top pairing Dman for Maatta as the center piece meanwhile why would the Canes give up Rask who has a great contract for a UFA who likely doesnt sign with them after this season while also taking on Pit's mistake in JJ? I wish I could give negative stars

Winnipeg won't trade Morrissey they like him and definietly won't take on more money if they do trade him as Laine, Trouba, Connor, Myers, and Tanev are all UFA or RFA this summer
I agree with previous comment about the Carolina trade.

The Jets and Hurricane GMs would block your phone number if you proposed these trade to them.

Carolina needs some offensive depth on their team and an injured Rask doesn't provide that. He has 1 point in 8 games, so I wouldn't necessarily say that contract is a steal. Brassard is a way better center offensively than Rask. The Jets have shown interest in Maatta and Morrissey is a better defenseman than him, so that explains the couple picks going the other way.

When Morrissey's contract expires, he's going to ask for a lot more than he is currently making. The Jets can't afford that. By adding Maatta, he's a cost controlled player for another 4 years.
