The fragile

Description
This team should've been hard to play against. The system should have been focused on puck control.
PUCK CONTROL!!! (Help coach Q?)
We should have played the same style of smothering defense as years past. We have a lot of offensive talent but not "run and gun" talent that trades punches. We should limit scoring chances, play somewhat heavy, and never give up the puck. The speed guys create space for the shooters, the physical guys grind in the dirty areas to keep or regain possession. This should've been a team that slowly runs up a score and makes the opposition get off their game plan.
Instead we thought we could only play offense and out score people. The defense pinched too much, got beat, no one seems to know how to play man. Everyone just runs around looking for the "man" with the puck. Someone always seems to be open in high danger areas. Allen wasn't/isn't going to be a game saver. So we always found ourselves chasing games instead of dictating them.
We then lost trust in Allen, what little they had to begin with. Hard to give it full effort when you feel like it doesn't matter, your goalie will blow it in the end (any level of hockey). That led to losing and the lack of confidence that goes with it. Then they lost trust in eachother and themselves. For the record I don't believe Allen is a bad goalie, I don't think the team had faith in him. (GM did) Maybe style of play wasn't a fit IDK. But they played hard for guys like Elliott and Hutton, but not Allen.

It all boils down to TRUST. They didn't trust the goalie, the coach, their game plan, then themselves and teammates. That's how a reasonable contender turns into a "fragile group" in 28 games

Sorry I was going to comment on another page but the comment turned into a rant. Then the rant turned into a book. Then that book turned into a damn HBO series.

This was refreshing tbh. It's exactly what has happened.

I know they CAN get their confidence back. But it seems very unusual, upsetting, that a veteran group like this one seems so fragile.

I think they're human, just like the fans. You think you have something good and it turns to sh#t, it hurts way worse. By all accounts the players were super pumped for the season. They got thumped day 1, and pumped turned into the dump-ster fire

It all boils down to leadership, from the captains on the ice to the coach, to the front office. It seems like players on the ice don't trust their leaders, and good leaders would have never let it get this bad. Also, with Armstrong constantly changes things, it seems like players don't trust their GM to help them out either. It's bad.
