SIgnings

Created by: TrueNorth
Team: 2019-20 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 3, 2018
Published: Dec. 12, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kulikov and Perreault have to move to afford the rest of the signings. Myers is too valuable to the team to let walk. I think he and the franchise are mutually committed to each other after his family's health scare.

five years of Myers is far too much term. resigning of I wanna be a ufa trouba is completely, since we can't use the words, "not realistic", complete dreamland fantasy.

I think the Jets can resign Myers for less than that. If we give him more term than cap hit....5 years at 4 or 5 mill

1. If we sign Trouba (big IF) then we absolutely 100% have to let Myers walk....with all our high end forwards needing raises we can't pay a 3rd pairing guy 5.5mill.
2. Connor will NOT sign for less money than Nylander - his stats will be far superior to what Nylander had when he signed his last deal. If we want 6+ years of term for Connor it will be over 7 mill (IMO)
3. Just curious - whats the rationale for signing Laine for a 1 year deal at that price? Usually you go short term if you want to keep the cost down OR if you aren't sure what you have yet and need to see more. The kid will have scored 36, 44 and +50 goals as 18, 19, 20 year old. What more do we need to see? If we could get him for 3 years at 7.5 mill (keep cap down) so we can keep other players around longer...but if it's up north of 9 mill then I'd just say pay the guy 10-10.5 million and lock him up for 6-8 years.
4. Chiarot taking a huge pay cut to play on a 1 year deal on our 2nd pairing? No chance....he's exactly the type of player that has to cash in on this scenario....if we don't pay him some other team will. No way a guy like that will take a discount as he only likely has 1 payday in his career.
