If u retain 2 mill, Alex Steen at 3.75 is probably worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder

Steen is a curious case. If there's a young team, in a good location, that's ready to compete but needs 2way defensive veteran help, it would be ideal. Arizona makes sense, but would he waive? I thought a swap w him+ and gologoski made sense for both teams, but golo has a NMC. And that blocks our young LHD.

Adding barbashev n Schmaltz would help the appeal, but still have to find a team w an extra 6-7mil, that he'd agree to go to. Start playing him on the 4th line might help that.

FLA is another good fit, but that are unable to make money. So adding salary might be hard to do. But they could use a player his style

This will be Doug's biggest test

Retain 2m take a 4th in straight up trade just to move him. Canucks would makes sense if they are still in the playoff neighborhoid. Young team could use a veteran presence and they aren’t exactly stacked in their top 9.

Or take Gagner and a 3rd for Steen retain 2m and a prospect.

I think a team will take him, the tough part is getting him to waive his NTC

HIs contract is pretty abysmal.

Right, waiving the NTC is the tricky part too. It'd have to be somewhere he'd want to play, that would be willing to afford his contract and take a prospect back I'd guess. Narrow window. My best guess is Vegas.

Find a team at the deadline willing to take him and retain like 1-1.75 mil and get like a 5th round pick.
