Thanks for the reply.

I might be extending a bit with trying to get Timmins, but it would be worth a try. McQuaid has cup experience, is a UFA and is still a solid bottom pairing D. He also balances out their back end as a RHD- he Zadorov together could be hard to handle in the post-season.

If I take that part of the trade away, I still think the COL would give up a 1st round pick for Hayes. He brings depth down the middle-a piece that COL is missing right now and that they'll need to make a run in the playoffs, especially with matchups on the road.

Why do you think the Av's laugh at that proposal?

McQuaid is a bad Dman, at his best day is a 3rd pairing Dman 6th on the Depth chart. Hayes Is a pending UFA. Avs are not trading their 1st rounder and one of their top prospects for a rental and a bad dman. He is not any better than Nemeth, Barberio..probably worse to be honest. And Avs have Makar coming after his NCAA. They dont need McQuaid and his health scratch level of play

Its a train wreck of value for the Avs to give up.

Like I said, it's a bit of a reach for McQuade as part of that trade. And I mentioned that I thought he would be a bottom pairing D. He brings value as a D that has playoff experience and as a player that you can play against heavier teams, if need be. He is still a solid PK D-man, so could also have some value in that regard.

But if McQuade is left out of the trade, the AV's would have to give up a 1st round pick to get a player of any value that can make a difference in their lineup during the post season. True, Hayes is a UFA, but if he plays well for COL, there is a lot for him to like there and they would have a good chance at resigning him. In addition, COL has two first round picks in the 2019 draft, so I think they would be willing to give one up if it means that they will be improving their team and could get some playoff success/experience for their young team.

There are other players that COL could trade for throughout the league, but Hayes would be a good fit for what they need. What trades would you rather see them make? This will be the last question I ask, but just curious if you had anything in mind.

Thanks
