Description

leafs trade nylander 1 for 1 for muzzin but the retained salary is crucial to the leafs and i believe would be a smart move next offseason. The defense is improved while the offense doesnt lose much as willy hasnt done much since his return and the team keeps winning. Also the leafs will have money to re sign muzzin once marleau is off the books. thoughts?

Nylander is worth way more than a 1 for 1 with a soon to be 30 year old d-man. Also shoots left.

with the salary retained probably but trades dont always get equal value back. I think the leafs lose this trade in player value but gain 5 million in crucial cap space. Id do it personally if it means we can keep gardiner kappy and johnsson

I don't understand why the leafs would want to "lose" a trade. If you wanna include Nylander in a trade you could package him a deal for Parayko instead and get some actual return back. At the minimal one or two picks would have to come back from LA to make it a decent deal.
