0 chance Tampa makes this deal, they're going for a cup and Sergachev is an important D man for them. They won't trade him for a guy who's still in juniors and a pick. Just doesn't make sense. I'm a habs fan too btw

Segachev is good and cheap. He is the exact player Tampa needs to hold on to so they can balance the cap.

MTL isnt interested in taking the LD who screwed himself out of the top 4 situation that was gift wrapped for him . He attacked a Ref costing TBL a game and Coach Cooper reduced his minutes Sergachev had rightfully earned his first 25-30 games but as competition got tougher he cracked and Coach Cooper hasnt trusted him since .TBL even went out of their way to lock up their top 4 LD from there so tight that this year Sergachev's playing bottom RD just to stay in the NHL until just recently when Cooper began scratching him for Erik Cernak .

Sergachev has issues like a lot of young russian's he's a boy trying to be a man in a league that's speed based something that isnt a major focus for Russian's back at his home nation. He's a guy who could have been a top 10 D in the league if he was born 10 years earlier when the league still ran on passion and hate . this league of hand shakes and hugs as Brian Burke put it tends to favor European style hockey more then Canadian or Russian's Traditional Hockey focusing on protecting fellow native stars that fans pay to see so their career's dont end early and so they can bring more glory to their nation's.

there is no shame in it he'll still be a top 4 D the bulk of his career but on a good team there is really no chance of him playing top pair unless he finds a bizzarre situation like in LAK , MTL or MIN where he could slide right in and fix a hole in their depth charts .

incase you missed the past year Cooper's moved on from Sergachev , he plays selfish and takes dumb penalties which Cooper has Zero Tollerance for .

Hedman and Mcdonugh = Sergachev's TBL blue chip piece

the issue is the longer he plays the more people see his potential's limit's . as long as Cooper's in TBL Sergachev will never get the chance to be come what some TBL fans think he will . (in MTL we only thought because of Weber , Petry and Juulsen on our RD that Sergachev could be a stud but 95% of NHL teams dont have RD depth like that )

I wouldn’t write off a player in the doghouse this early in their career...

not writing him off , just saying no one's over paying to gamble on a player who plays selfishly due to his style of play being out dated .

i'm just saying MTL and TBL built up this young man to be something he is not similar to how TML did with Zaitsev and now look at where they are as he's declined consistently every year since TML gave him term .

Russians in this league aren't equipped to last unless they live in North America and adopt the NHL's brand of hockey by hiring skating coaches .
