ZAR and Simon

Created by: LetsTalkNHL

Description
When healthy, I think Rust should remain on Sid and Jake's line. The Pens get the most of him there and he can still do his defensive work on the PK. Kessel and Hornqvist changing between 2RW and 3RW is fine by me. Pearson is either the 2LW or 3LW, but I cannot see him dropping to 4LW. The real problem is with ZAR and Simon. Which one gets the 2LW/3LW? ZAR has shown that he plays really well in a top 6 role, but is also a good 4th line guy. Simon played well with Sid, but has been on a pointless streak recently. I do not really see him on the 4th. ZAR has played C before, so would there be a chance of him becoming the new 3C once Brassard is gone? Is that too crazy? What would you guys do in this case? Have one play 4th line while the other plays 2nd/3rd? Trade one? Play ZAR C? Let me know.

1 Guentz- sid - rust
2 pearson- geno - horny
3 ZAR - brass - kessel
4 cullen/ grant - sheahan- simon/ grant/cullen.

when schultz is near healthy i think pens will trade maatta because pettersson isn't getting scratched with how he's playing and all the other d spots are solidified. he's just the odd man out but i think the pens can get a good forward in return for maatta

ZAR won't be thrown in as a 3rd line center. If Brassard is traded there will be a 3rd line center coming back or acquired in a corresponding deal. I Think ZAR fits right in as a wing and can move throughout the lineup.

Simon gets a lil tricky. He does have good chem with Sid at times and Sid does like having him on the wing but he is streaky and lacks finish. Rust is a much better fit because of his speed, defensive awareness, and that lil extra physicality that he brings that Simon doesn't. But Simon could add a little spark to a 4th line and would probably work well with Cullen.
Having both with some versatility while they are young and cheap cap hit is a good situation for the Pens. I think ZAR proably has the higher ceiling of the two.

Both of you would be okay with having Simon on the 4th line?

for the record I'm ok with Simon being traded out or sent back to the AHL.
With out Crosby carrying him on his back all over the ice he's going no where.

ZAR is a really good player. He reminds me of Rust the last 2 years. You can throw him in anywhere and he fixes a line. He's scrappy. He is clearly a top 9 forward. Playing him on the 4th line is a total waste of talent unless your 4th line is gonna pull 15 minutes a night.

The can also sit Cullen.

I do think ZAR should be in top 9 at the very least. Although he can be on the 4th, I find him more useful top 9.

Yes, if rust stays with Sid, Simon doesn't have legit chemistry he needs with other top players which puts him below ZAR. It's with Sid or 4th line for Simon whereas ZAR can play anywhere.
