I don't see how that trade would make the Leafs better this year. Leafs lose two starting regulars for one. And certainly it hurts the Leafs long term as Spurgeon is a 1.5 year rental.
Folks always like "the addition" but the "subtraction" has to be considered.

Bassman: In my "points pool" with my friends.....active sign 1975. Spurgeon is one of my five Dmen. I was pleased with the three points Thursday.

true, but your getting a huge need in a top RHD. Not to mention getting rid of Zaitsev and his contract

Someone had a good Comment about Zaitsev. I think he has pretty neutral trade value. Like he doesn’t have any value, but teams would take him for a 5th or something. But leafs would be better to keep him as he eats valuable minutes for them

But Zaitsev isn't bad. It's amazing how great all four of the Carolina RHD in any trade talk on this site. And where are the Canes? I while you can say Spurgeon, Dumba and Suter with justification are better than Zaitsev, where has got the Wild? Zaitsev is abut the 3rd and 4th Leafs best Dman. He and the bottom end Leafs Dman can't be THAT for the Leafs to be were they are.

Different dynamics across the board for the Wild and Leafs. The Leafs have (arguably) 6 or 7 forwards better than the Wild's best forward. By contrast, you can argue the Wild have 3 or 4 d-men better than the Leafs 2nd best... Both teams would need more balance to be true Cup contenders, IMO...goal-tending issues aside...

Zaitsev isn't that good at all. He has 3 assist this season in 40 games. He doesn't offer much other then maybe killing penalties. Making almost 5 mill a season with a team tight against that cap next season is something they should look into. He's there 3 or 4 best dman cause other then Reilly they don't have anything else thats special lol.

They don't have anything else? So Reilly is on the ice for 23 minutes. For sure any good team has to have competent Dmen for the approximately 120 minute Dmen are on the ice. lol, do you even know how hockey teams are structured? Sorry, I don't have time for non hockey fans on this site.
