Teams rarely, if ever, trade within their division, especially to rivals. DeSmith isn't getting traded for a few reasons. First, he's on a cap friendly contract. Secondly, he hasn't played a large enough sample size just yet. Thirdly, Jarry hasn't proved himself capable of being consistent enough to backup at the NHL level just yet.

Then you trade Oleksiak with picks for picks and comment how NYR need picks but are giving up more than receiving. Cogliano is no way a 2nd line player, Grant in place of Aston-Reese YIKES.
