Doesn't seem Arizona's way to take on 2.5m in cap just because the Flames want to dispose of 4.3m Frolik.

Tkachuk's best season so far is 49 points last season, And you honestly think he's worth $8 million per Yeah Right. He's on pace for over slightly 80 points this season. Hardly worthy of big money.

Cap hit is of less concern to a team that doesn't hit cap, the salary is, and Frolik is paid $3M in final year. Better option for them than a UFA

Tkachuk's best season so far is 52 points last season, And you honestly think he's worth $8 million per Yeah Right.

I don't think he is, but I wanted to hedge in case he ends up there. Salary cap rising, PPG in contract year, comparable players potentially making $7M or more.

He could make that amount if you insist on an 8 year deal. A close comparison would be David Pastrnak who had nearly a ppg in his contract year after less impressive first 2 seasons. He took a 6 year 6.666 deal because it was fair for both sides. Why not sign Tkachuk for that term / amount? Is there any factual evidence the team or he has insisted on an 8 year pact because if not it'd make more sense to go shorter for less as Gaudreau and Monahan had a shorter term than 8 years as well.

You have to look at the silliness of RFA signing and what Tkachuk is doing this year. 46 games.....54 points. What's that 95 point seasons. Nylander average $$$ is 7.3m averaged for two 60 point season.
Tzachuk's father, actually was a true hold out. After signing a six year front loaded contract, a few years later he held out complaining his current pay for too low. I think it's going to be a very difficult sign by the Flames.

He’s on pace for more than 90 actually. And he’s 21. I’d say he deserves to get paid, though Calgary might convince to take less.

Actually, his best season so far is this season, and he's on pace for 40 goals and 94 points. Throw in his godly possession numbers and the fact that he's doing this while only playing with Monahan and Gaudreau on the powerplay, then you could come to the conclusion that he is quickly becoming a star in this league, worth star money. Don't undersell how good he really is. On an 8 year deal, he definitely gets 8M on the market. But Treliving has proven time and again that his true strength is keeping his own players signed to team friendly deals. He's proven that with Monahan, Gaudreau, Giordano, Hamilton, Hanifin, Lindholm and Backlund, and I'm sure he'll continue that with Tkachuk.

My guess is that he signs him for 5-6 years at around Giordano's 6.75M, keeping him at the team's in-house cap, and staggering the contract years for him, Monahan and Gaudreau
