Description

Chicago Trade: Save cap when compared to Lucic and Seabrook. They also get Benning who has shown he can play bottom 6 pairing and take a chance.

Philly: Trade for Talbot as a stop gap for Hart

Devils: Take on Russel who is a good Dman

Detroit: take a flyer on Manning and Spooner, two guys who have upside to help the team and if not they are gone next year.

Signings are to bolster forward depth and hopefully keep JP and Yamamoto in the minors this year. These guys need to develop properly.

the trade with New Jersey would be an awful trade for the oilers. why would we move a reliable top 4 d-man for a 4th round pick?

Cap Space. I don't think they would take on Sekera. I added Seabrook who replaces Russel and Jones has shown he can play. If Sekera continues with injuries then Oilers are just adding a 7th D.

No point in Philly taking Talbot now their season is done. They are sellers. Toronto or Calgary would likely take Talbot for insurance back up for playoffs with retained salary.

Also hope Koskinen doesn’t get 4.5M he seems to be Tandem level goalie which have been getting 2.75 to 3.5M per year on 3 year term.

Maybe Kosk is less. Idk. I just don't think I like any FA goalies enough to give them tons of cash or some won't come here. Feel like Oilers have a good depth of goalies waiting to up come up but need a stop gap
