Adding Simmonds

Created by: flamesfan419

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 17, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's been reported the Flyers would be hoping to add young D in any deal involving Simmonds.

Might seem a bit high but if he does re-sign here going forward it really sets up our depth scoring for a few more years...plus the toughness edge we're looking for in terms of playoffs.

As always, these are my own personal thoughts and ideas. We all know the chances of any of this happening are slim, at best.
So if you wish to comment, please do.

  1. Dubé, Dillon
  2. Frolík, Michael
  3. Kylington, Oliver
  4. 2019 1st round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
**Conditions ont he pick are: If Simmonds doesn't re-sign in CGY the pick becomes a 2020 1st instead.

**Frolik allows the Flyers to walk away from Lehtera int he off season and provides them with a proven PK guy
**Kylington gives them a speedy LHD who's shown he's right on the cusp of becoming a solid everyday Dman
2.
CGY
  1. Lovejoy, Ben
Additional Details:
With Stone being an uncertainty moving intot he playoffs due to his current health concern, adding a playoff proven RHD may be a good idea. Lovejoy could be swapped in/out with Andersson and Valimaki in the playoffs just to insulate the kids during their first playoff experiences.

WAY WAY too much for Wayne Simmonds. Hard pass from a Flames perspective. I wouldn't even give up a 1st+ for an upcoming UFA in Simmonds, let alone including Dube AND Kylington.

Probably way too much for a rental in Wayne Simmonds, But Simmonds to Calgary makes so much sense. They're the perfect team for him.

Very true, they make good trade partners, not too sure Philly needs another young defensemen. They have Provorov, Hagg, Sanheim and Gotisbehere (is in his 4th year), with Myers, Morin and about four other mid level guys.

While Philly would have interest in a good top 4 vet dman, Calgary wont be dealing one of them, the only defenseman which Philly might go for is Rasmus Anderson, (maybe Hamonic) but its still not what they need. With youngsters like frost, farabee, Radcliffe and a ton of mid-level forwards arriving, a solid vet who can play multiple positions on the 2nd/3rd line is what they need.
At 1.95mil, an RFA who is between 25-35 pts in his career is Sam Bennett. Simmonds would easily replace bennetts size and strength and then some. Bennett probably doesn;t get a massive raise based on his play, but if Calgary does offer what I think he should get 2.7-3.2mil a year, he'll be offer sheeted in a second.
SImmonds helps Calgary now and they'll need the cap space next year.

You don't think the Oilers aren't prepared to give up their 2019 1st for a guy like Simmonds??? Plus their pick would be a Hell of a lot higher than ours will be, so have to sweetend the deal with the youngs guys going back in the deal.
Also the Leafs would easily offer up their 1st to get Simmonds, and they can add in Kapanen +.

So it really comes down to which team can or is willing to re-sign Simmonds going forward. Out of the 3 teams I've noted, only the Flames would have that ability cap wise.

As a flyers fan, I would be interested in a conversation that centered around Bennett and Simmonds.

Please, enlighten me then.

It's been out for days now that EDM is willing to offer up their 1st ++ in a deal.
Tor has been rumored to have their 1st in play for the right deal....and they sure as Hell could use some toughness in their lineup.

So you're "guessing" then? Hardly an argument for telling someone else they're "way off" don't ya think?

So far I haven't seen any of your ACGM teams become reality, and neither have any of mine.
It's all about what we as fans either think will happen, but mostly what we as fans would like to happen.

Your saying 1great prospect + 1 young highly skilled player just breaking in to the nhl + 1 half point per game speedy defensive specialist thet playoff teams would love to have + a first round pick for a rental. That is a ridiculous overpayment for a declining player. That's like Toronto offering kapp + Hyman + Lilly + a 1st.

Philly is a bit loaded with prospects at the moment, and while a 1st always has value, I'm not sure philly needs more mid level prospects.

A deal (including more one way or the other) like Bennett from Calgary, a Kapanen from TOR, a Jarnkrot from NASH, something like that Is probably more likely than a pick or a mid level prospect or a “project”. Philly has three good tradeable players at the deadline, who would be great for playoffs in Simmonds, gudas and raffl (three guys who use their size, strength and board play). I wouldn’t say Simmonds is worth a “Hanzal” type deal but one of those forementioned deals with a pick added in one way or the other (considering Phillys picks will be high) is possible and morely Phillys need.
