Why are the Canes giving so much extra? Seems like Hamilton/Ferland would be enough to make this happen.

That is a huge overpayment from Car. I am a leaf fan, and this trade is very bad if you are the Canes.

Noted - but if I was posting Ferland Hamilton for Kap and Gardiner on here...I would get a similar reaction the other way.

Carolina is way over-paying No way is Kapanen+A pending UFA in Gardiner worth that much.

Agreed. I don't love the idea of getting Hamilton. Solid offensive D-man, but not very defensive minded - which the leafs really need.
