I wouldn't mind the trade....just to clear cap space, but as long as we know this "shuffle" and the players involved isn't going to help the Leafs this year or even next year.

Tanev would be in his water with Leafs imo. He would be very good for us to be honest. And Zaitsev would get fresh start as well. Brown too. Goldobin would provide skillset Brown hasnt and that is playmaking, we would lose the toughness of Brown but I think it helps us and Vancouver as well. Maybe I would change 1st rounder to 2nd round pick but you get the idea of this move.

So Van is retaining on Tanev, taking on Zaitsev and giving up a young player who's got 23 points in 44 games for a late first round pick and Connor Brown, what's in it for the Canucks?

Good deal for the leas. not a good deal for the canucks. Leafs first round pick no longer has the value it used to.

Vancouver would get offensive D guy who is misplayed so much it hurts. Zaitsev can flourish in VAN, and Im sure Brown would be great in Vancouver with either role on Boesers RW or Peteys LW, he scored 20 in his first season in middle-6 role.. he hasnt forgot how to score. Needs to be put in more offensive role than on Leafs. The type of guy they would use properly and has speed and tenacity to his game as well. Goldobin hasnt got a high trade value tbh. There were talks about him being traded and it hurt his stock. He is very good player thats for sure. Im not sure Canucks would get significant pieces for Goldobin. Just from what Ive seen on other AGM teams. For me his value is 2nd rounder at best which is similar value to Brown. In mid/late 20s you can draft a STUD especially in 2020 draft which would be incredibly deep class. Vancouver can draft and with 2 1sts in that year. Wonders may lay in that draft!

No matter the position of 1st round pick, they have big big value especially in 2020 draft which would be deep one. Vancouver can draft incredibly well (Madden for example in later round) so no matter what teams pick it is, it posses big value for a team like Canucks.
