I can actually picture this scene in Shawshank Redemption...you know, the one where Red and Andy are sitting in “the yard”, and Andy convinces Red to look under that rock in a Maine field and then join him in Zihuatinejo.
The same thing happened in Jacketsland.
Bread and Bob, both Russian, but not too chummy, brought together under circumstances beyond their control, were sitting down to a heaping bowl of pre-game pasta.
Bread was lamenting having to play in bumpkinville Columbus, instead of the marquee lights of Chicago, or LA, or New York.
And Bob chimes in at how he is so disrespected, with his 2 Vezina trophies and lack of a Cary Price contract in hand.
AND THEN THE LIGHT BULB WENT OFF.
Why not just stick it to Columbus.
They will both sign (pre-negotiated and hush hush of course) with one of the aforementioned teams.
They sent a kyte, by Russian carrier pigeon, to the GM’s mistresses house (this is a movie plot now, we need some sort of sordid plot scene).
This communicated their escape plan and intent to sign together, to give their new team time to dump payroll for their arrival in July.
