Two trades my pea-sized brain thinks make sense EdmMtl

Created by: MNBassman

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 27, 2019

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I've done these trades, or something very close before...they just seem to make complete sense to me (from a Wild perspective, at least). I would like to hear more opinions of team need and value from Wild, Oiler, and Habs fans. Thanks in advance.
Obviously, there woudl need to be other subsequent trades to make these moves work, but that is what the summer is for...
Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Kassian, Zack
  2. Nurse, Darnell
  3. Puljujärvi, Jesse
  4. 2019 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Summer trade so the Oilers can make subsequent moves to fit under the cap. Wild would consider Russel instead of Kassian in this deal if they can't move Brodin in the Habs trade. I truly don't know what Russel's value is in a trade - Oiler fans???
EDM
  1. Spurgeon, Jared
  2. Zucker, Jason
Additional Details:
Two bonafide star (not superstar) players for one very exciting d-man, a question mark, a cap dump, and a 1st.
2.
MIN
  1. Juulsen, Noah
  2. 2019 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
I've done this trade before, it seems to make sense for both sides.
MTL
  1. Brodin, Jonas
  2. 2020 4th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
A very, very steady LHD who can play both sides and skate like the wind for a promising RHD who can do a bit of everything and add some sandpaper to the Wild blueline.

How about Roslovic and a 2nd for Staal as a deadline deal this season?

There’s some concerns with Juulsen’s injury. Montreal dosen’t give any details... but if he’s healty and you want him, I’ll be so happy if that trade happen

I'm sure you'd both like Roslovic and who knows the Jets may make that trade but I think it'd be incredibly stupid of them if they did.

Oilers taking on 2 players with 10 million in cap hit isn't exactly helping with our cap situation. when we got 2 cheap contracts ( puljujaarvi and the 1st pick?) Kassian who would be in his last year of the deal. Nurse is just going to get paid regardless. So you wanna help us, you'd have to take sekera. Russell has been pretty good for us since year 1. So I why trade someone who rarely misses a game and is pretty stable for the most part

I agree, we'd likely have to send them one of JEE or Coyle and have them add a bit.

Is Sekera ever going to play again?

No from the Oilers. If we are giving up Nurse, Puljujarvi and a 1st from a year where we are 6 pts out of last place, I would expect a better piece than Zucker or Spurgeon. Zucker has had one season of 50 pts, and is on pace for less than that this year. Zucker isn’t the type of player that’s going to guarantee production like some other player. Nino to Edmonton would have been amazing but that’s not happening anymore.

Nurse, Puljujarvi and a 1 could probably fetch you Ehlers + out of Winnipeg, which was a better than this when you consider contracts and age

No I like Juulsen! If he was LH, I’d keep him but we’re way stronger at RHD with Web,Petry,Juulsen,Brook, Fleury and Benn can play on the right side aswell. But nobody can play with weber...

What if the Wild retained 1/2 of Spurgeon’s salary? That would give the Oilers an extra year to figure out their cap problems.
