Wild Trade

Created by: msekkes
Team: 2018-19 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 28, 2019
Published: Jan. 28, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just an idea to try and improve our odds of getting the first pick and significantly improving the defense next year. Not sure if the value is right but I think that would be enough considering Dumba most likely won't be doing anything this year and the Wild are 3rd in the Central.

Thoughts?
Trades
PHI
  1. Dumba, Matt
Additional Details:
Dumba is most likely out for the year, this package gives the Wild some depth for a playoff push on the backend and scoring help up front.
MIN
  1. Gudas, Radko ($1,675,000 retained)
  2. Myers, Philippe
  3. Simmonds, Wayne ($1,987,500 retained)
Additional Details:
Flyers can continue to bottom feed for the rest of the season in hopes of getting a top 3 pick and get a contributor next year when they hit the reset button.

I am very high on Myers but if that got us Dumba I would take it in a heartbeat. That being said, it likely wouldn't get us Dumba.

Was trying to figure out something else to throw in there roster wise but Wild have no cap space. Looking at prospect rankings they seem a little light on the back end and Myers would be the top defensive prospect on the Wild plus Gudas could play now and next year at 50% off. What else would you be looking for? Additional prospects or picks?

I'd be ok throwing in a 2020 1st if it was top 10 protected.

Not too keen on trading 1sts, could throw in a 2nd this year(would be a high 2nd). Having two early 3rd rounders would soften the blow.

I don't think Dumba is available but for the sake of this post let's assume he is, he will cost far more than Philly would be willing to give up... Dumba (and possibly Greenway, Kunin, and Kaprizov) is pretty much the only bright spot in the extremely dark future that the Wild have coming with the Suter and Parise contracts so any team looking to acquire him will have to pay a king's ransom. With that said, he's a perfect fit for Philly.

Thanks for the feedback, better than "Declined" and no explanation tears of joy

So pretty much would have to start with a Patrick/Provorov type young roster player, with some top prospects sprinkled in and picks?

Probably more than that even... I'm thinking a package of Patrick, Konecny, and maybe even Ghost (which as I mentioned is extremely dumb for the Flyers to make that trade). Dumba was on pace for 30 goals, it's pretty unlikely he hit that mark but he definitely would have been over 20. Over the past 4 seasons he's put up 10+ goals as a 24 year old and he's made massive improvements to his defensive game (including hitting). Since 2005-06, only 5 other players have put up 3 consecutive 10+ goal seasons as 23 year olds (Doughty, Hamilton, Phaneuf, Aaron Ekblad and Oliver Ekman-Larsson) with Werenski only 1 goal away from joining that exclusive list. Barring any career-ending injury, I'm extremely confident Dumba will win a Norris in his career at some point.

Because it's Philly and they can't have nice things, like goalies. Hart would have to be part of the deal too. sarcasm
