No, they wanted a first rounder and Bergevin said he wasn't giving it up, so if we didn't it it would most likley cost an A prospect which doesn't make sense given MTLs current situation

Difference is that neither one was going to play for the leafs in the near future. We have a solid, young core, obviously those guys aren't going to be ranked decently high in our pool considering our young guys are Nhlers

Toronto is a contender with an overload of offensive talent. They can afford it.

MTL's draft pick will be better and they need their prospects to devellop, no 30+ warhorses on their decline.
